Gary Brocklesby, President

Gary started his career in 1993 at Marc Rich trading company and, in 1996, became head of Glencore’s worldwide shipping department (previously Marc Rich). He oversaw a T/C fleet expansion from 4 vessels to 85 vessels (of over 3m dwt) by 2003 as ST Shipping became one of the world’s largest product tonnage operators. During this period, he was involved in JV purchases of 10 new-build product tankers, and ST became one of Glencore’s leading profit centres. In 2003, he left Glencore and, together with Nicolas Busch, co-founded FR8 which became one of the fastest growing and most dynamic tanker freight trading companies. Following the sale of their majority stake in FR8 in 2007, Gary co-founded Navig8 Group where he acts as Group Chairman. Gary is based in the UK and covers all commercial areas of shipping.

Nicolas Busch, Chief Executive Officer

Nicolas began his career at Glencore in 2000, where he headed the freight derivatives desk. In 2003, he left Glencore and, together with Gary Brocklesby (former head of Glencore’s shipping division), co-founded FR8 which became one of the fastest growing and most dynamic tanker freight trading companies. Following the sale of their majority stake in FR8 in 2007, Nicolas (together with Gary Brocklesby) co-founded Navig8 Group where he acts as CEO. Nicolas is based in the UK.

Jason Klopfer, Chief Operating Officer

Jason was appointed Commercial Director of Navig8 Group in 2012. He maintains oversight responsibilities of the company’s offices in the United States, which includes business development and pool management. His prior professional experience was with Poten & Partners, Inc., where he served as Managing Director of the company’s Spot Tanker Business. Prior to his work at Poten & Partners, he was a Vice President at Overseas Shipholding Group (OSG) where he oversaw the commercial management of the Aframax International Pool. During his time at OSG, he also served as Vice President of Tankers International’s VLCC pool. Prior to his work at OSG, Jason started his career with McQuilling Brokerage Partners, Inc., as a Chartering Shipbroker. Jason is based in the US.

Geir Frode Abelsen, Chief Technical Officer

Geir began his career as a Fleet Manager in V Ships where he stayed until 2002, when he moved to DFDS Lys-Line AS to act as Maritime Manager. After five years, he moved to Camillo Eitzen as a Technical Director and a year later to Eitzen Chemical as the Chief Technical Officer with an overall responsibility for the technical operation of a fleet of more than 80 vessels.
